Clare Boerigter is a writer, environmental storyteller, and former wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service.

Clare was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in the Midwest. She holds a BA in Spanish from Grinnell College, an MA in International Education from the Universidad de Alcalá in Spain, and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of Minnesota.

Clare worked as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service during the 2012, 2013 and 2015 fire seasons. She has worked as a firefighter on over 25 wildfires in 6 different states, as well as serving as the lookout in the Ute Fire Tower, one of Utah’s last remaining fire towers.

An outdoor sports enthusiast, Clare was thrilled to rock climb all across Spain during her two years studying and teaching in Madrid. She currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she swims, runs and skis.
